Data, Connections, and the Roadmap
The weekly data ritual, the 10 connections system, and the honest 30-60-90 day timeline.
7.1 The weekly data ritual
Every Sunday, 10 minutes before your batching session, run this in SocialLead:
- Top post by impressions: What hook and topic had the broadest appeal? Write more like it.
- Top post by engagement rate: What does my existing audience care about most? Serve it more.
- Top post by profile visits: What made people want to know more? Study the structure and replicate it.
- Best-performing platform: Give it slightly more attention in your next batch.
- What consistently failed: Kill the format or topic that underperforms, even if you personally like it.
In addition to your own data, spend 5 minutes per week looking at 3 to 5 accounts in your space. Find their top posts from the last 30 days. Identify the concept, not the execution. Write your own version with your data, your voice, your experience. This is not copying. It is identifying proven concepts and applying them to your situation.
7.2 Real connections, not automation
The 10 connections system: Pick 10 accounts in your niche. Not celebrities. Peers building adjacent things, at a similar stage, with audiences that overlap with yours.
- Week 1: Reply to 2 to 3 of their posts with genuine, specific, value-adding comments
- Week 2: Quote-post one of their best posts with your own real perspective added
- Week 3: Send a DM after you have established familiarity from the comments
- Week 4 and beyond: Keep showing up. Collaborate when it makes sense naturally.
Their audience starts associating you with their content. You capture the follower overflow. The trust built through consistent, real interaction compounds into referrals over time.
What most people do wrong is they focus on quantity. They use AI to spam replies under hundreds of posts. “Great insight! Wow. So good.” And they get no real connections built. What actually works is finding people you genuinely want to connect with and replying with real value. Share your experience. Ask a thoughtful question. Stay consistent with the same people, like building any friendship in real life.— Rob Hallum
Genuine connection requests after engagement. When someone engages with your post, send a connection request that references it: “Saw your comment on my post about [topic], would love to connect.” 70 to 80% acceptance rate vs. 20 to 30% for cold requests.
7.3 The 30-60-90 day roadmap
Here is the honest, unvarnished timeline. Not the optimistic version. The real one.
Days 1 to 30: The invisible foundation
Because here is the part nobody warns you about: days 8 to 30 are going to feel pointless. You will post good content and get 40 impressions. You will write something you are proud of and hear nothing back. You will check your follower count and feel like the whole thing is a waste of time. Every founder goes through this. Most quit somewhere in this window.
What they do not realize is that the algorithm is watching. Every day you show up, every reply you write, every post you publish, it is building a signal. The platform is learning that you are consistent, that people engage with your content when they see it, that you are worth amplifying.
What to do in this phase: post every day, follow the content loop, reply genuinely to 10 posts per day in your niche. Not “great point!” replies. Real ones. That add something. That show you read the post and had a thought about it. This is how you grow before you have an audience.
What to expect: minimal follower growth, first signs of which topics resonate, zero leads. All of this is normal.
Days 31 to 60: The first signals
Something shifts around day 30. It is subtle at first. A post does a little better than the others. Someone replies with a real question instead of just a like. A profile visit leads to a follow-up DM. The numbers are still small, but they are moving in a direction.
This is when you start adding layers. Introduce two founder story posts per week. Run your first comment-to-DM funnel post.
What to expect: three to eight inbound DMs per week from genuinely interested people, first organic trial signups, the algorithm starting to actively amplify your best content instead of just showing it to your existing followers.
Days 61 to 90: When it starts compounding
By day 60 you have real data.
You know which topics your audience cares about. You know which hook formats stop the scroll for your specific readers. You know which day and time your posts perform best. You know whether your audience responds more to educational content or founder stories.
Stop guessing and start deploying that knowledge deliberately.
Run comment-to-DM campaigns twice per week, alternating between your two guides. Start repurposing your top performers systematically: every post that breaks into your top 20% by engagement gets turned into a thread, a carousel, or a short video. Increase your CTA posts to twice per week, because by now the trust is there to support it.
What to expect: predictable inbound from social alone, ten to twenty-five or more trial signups per month from organic content, a compounding momentum where each week builds on the last rather than starting from zero.
