How does in-browser video conversion work?

This tool uses ffmpeg.wasm, a WebAssembly port of the FFmpeg multimedia framework. It runs entirely in your browser — no server uploads needed. The first load downloads a ~25MB WASM core.

What video formats are supported?

You can convert between MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI, MKV, and GIF. MP4 (H.264) is the most universally compatible format for social media and web.

Is there a file size limit?

There's no hard limit, but very large files (over 500MB) may be slow due to browser memory constraints. For best results, keep videos under 200MB.

Will video quality be preserved?

The tool uses reasonable default encoding settings that balance quality and file size. Converting between lossy formats may cause slight quality loss — this is normal for all video conversion.

Is my video uploaded to a server?
